Our synagogues, our schools, and our community centers are the essential foundation of our lives together. We must work tirelessly to make certain that these spaces are both open and welcoming to those who need them and as secure as possible. As a result, Jewish American communities are considering more significant investments than ever in security efforts—hardening physical targets, training staff and congregants, and forming plans we hope we never have to use.
